My last few weeks… (looking forward to a straddle)

Hello cool people!

Well it’s been a while since I’ve popped out an update on what’s going on so thought I better get my shit together and put it in writing…

Ever since getting screwed around by the BSC/Scott deal (”or no deal” haha) I’ve barely straddled the velo at all. But I have my reasons (or should I say excuses?). Firstly, I was in a spot of bother. You see earlier on in the year, I figured I no longer needed my Specialized helmet or Nike Poggios so I got rid of them. After all, I was a Scott rider now right? And suddenly I was left high and dry with no shoes, no helmet. Oh and no motivation. In my head all this time I was figuring on having a great racing season. Last year’s seemed to go well. I had a few wins here or there, a few solid places, I was happy with my self and the direction I was taking. But then it hit me. Suddenly no team. Suddenly no equipment. Suddenly I was being told I was no longer eligible for a start in races like the Phillip Island Cycling GP, the DeBortoli Tour and the 3 Day Tour. Suddenly I had lost direction. Suddenly not happy. Suddenly not too keen on riding…

Then the last fortnight or so I have been having some wisdom teeth problems and still on a course of anti-biotics. Hardly the worlds worst problem I know but still it seemed like everything was going against me and my riding.

And I couldn’t even follow the sport without having a problem with it… Every time the I fired up the internet I would be told that some of my early day heroes - Bjarne Riis, erik Zabel, Christian Henn, etc - were confirming what many had thought for a while. They doped. Ok that sucks. But when they come out with statements like:

I did what it took to compete at the highest level

Now that totally sucks. Why would you wanna have anything to do with this crap sport anyway?

Well, whatever the answer to that is, i just do. So I’m getting my shit together as we speak. Got me helmet & shoes, which I reckon will go well with the Taragin kit when I’m ready to re-straddle (?) the Orbea.

Just not yet though…
